Concept of the Project

Planning: Concept of the Project

The core concept of our project is to create a smart and efficient system for managing electric vehicle (EV) charging in residential buildings. As the number of EVs increases, residential buildings face new challenges in distributing electrical power fairly and safely among multiple users. Most existing solutions are basic and do not account for energy optimization or real-time demand.

We propose a centralized smart charging management system that monitors power usage across the building and dynamically allocates charging power to each EV based on factors such as:

  • The current state of charge (SoC) of each vehicle’s battery,

  • The overall energy demand of the building,

  • The maximum capacity of the building’s electrical grid.

This system includes:

  • Smart PCBs installed in each charger,

  • A wireless communication network to send and receive data,

  • A central computer that processes the data and makes real-time decisions.

The system automatically prioritizes charging for vehicles that need it most and reduces energy waste by avoiding overloads and unnecessary charging. It works autonomously, requiring little to no human interaction once installed, and aims to make EV charging in shared spaces fairer, safer, and more energy-efficient.
